BPE - Edinburgh
Aug 9...
Edinburgh is a really nice city! Its castle on the top of the mountain, the old town along the Royal Mile, the new town with its shops and the Princes Street Garden down the valley, the view from the Arthur's seat... it all creates such a wonderful atmosphere.
Just when we first walked up the street into the old town my sister said "I think I'd like Edinburgh!", thats just how welcoming and cozy Edinburgh feels. It has this medieval atmosphere with old houses, narrow streets and stairs going up and down the hill, it is also so mysterious, with all the ghost and dungeon stories, and on top of that it was so lively (thanks to the Edinburgh Festival) with street performers, people strolling around, and music everywhere...

It takes a lot of work to keep cities and parks nice and tidy for people to enjoy...
Authentic Scottish atmosphere... Scottish music, bagpipes, and kilts (skirts)

Edinburgh's Festival is one of the biggest art festivals in the world, it is actually many festivals together including art festival (the Fringe), film festival, the military tatoo, etc... We were lucky to experience the atmosphere of the city when its population almost doubles, and enjoy the street performers, and artists promoting their plays along the royal mile and all around the city.
The pic above is from a hand-made cosmetics' store call Lush (which have stores in many countries) with some really strange looking things (creams, soaps, shampoos, etc), some of which do smell really nice!!! But what I liked the most about it was that in all the stores in UK they had the windows "decorated" with "stop animal testing" messages, and they had boxes where you could cast your vote against animal testing.
